As part of the Chalet Fourmiliere team, the chef will prepare and cook, high quality, healthy and creative meals for up to 14 guests (12 adults plus up to 2 children) on a weekly basis. Chalet Fourmiliere is a stunning, converted farmhouse with the marketing tag line ‘the best country house party in the Alps’, so you will be working to forfill that brief! We are looking for a team player, who wants to be part of a collaborative set up, working to provide excellent service and a fun time to all our guests. We want a problem solver who can adapt to the client needs, whilst maintaining excellent standards of food and hospitality.
In return you will have the opportunity to: run your own kitchen, develop meal plans and create recipes to delight our clientele, as well as get plenty of time on the slopes and enjoy being part of the best country house party in the mountains. We’d like you to have a driving licence and be prepared to muck in when necessary to ensure the guest experience is second to none.
The chef is required to:
– Cook breakfast on 5 mornings,
– Prepare afternoon tea and leave ready for guests to return to, on 5 days
– Prepare a 4 course dinner with canapés on 6 nights
– Customize menus to meet the requirements of our guests, accommodating food intolerances, allergies and tastes, as necessary.
– Shopping for groceries and household supplies,
– Maintaining high levels of food hygiene and best practice at all times
The chef must have professional experience working in a high-end restaurant, chalet or villa.
We have a fully equipped, separate, staff only professional kitchen and the chef will have the assistance of the two chalet hosts for serving and clearing. As this is a small owner run chalet we will expect the chef to be hands on as necessary with additional duties such as driving guests to and from the slopes, and general maintenance, working as a team with the owners and hosts.
You will have one complete day off each week, with some flexibility required to ensure we cover shifts as necessary for the week. Although we need you to be committed and top of your game in peak weeks, when we don’t have guests, and during quieter weeks, and there will be opportunities to have more down time and even more time on the hill.
Anticipated dates of employment: Early December 2018 to mid April 2019
We provide a great package including accommodation, travel allowance, season ski pass, ski/board hire, end of season bonus. Chalet Fourmiliere is owner managed and the owner will be on site throughout the season, working alongside the team.
